Abstrak
Almost all Hindus in Bali daily carry out various rituals (yadnya) namely the ritual known as Caru Rsigana. The rite is usually held not only in the home yard, but also in places which are sacralized by the local community. The Caru Rsigana is performed as a mean to neutralize (nyomia) the buhtakala to avoid their interfrence to human life and the environment. The Caru Rsigana utilize pretty much ritual equipment, which are dominated by the use of banten. The parties involved in the rite,namely the yajamana (who is hosted the rite), the widya/pancagra(the experts in the file such as the banten sarati special chef for the rite (tukang ebat) and the sadhaka who leadand deliver the ritual with (pujas), yadnya seha, mantras or Vedas. The proscessien is devided into three phases, namely the early phase, main phase, and the final phase. At the early stages,all kinds of banten and supplies are organized in a ccordance with the local custom by the serati banten. At the core stage, the priest take place to lead the procession of Caru Rsigana. On the final stage,the ritual is concluded by worshiping caru together. The caru Rsigana has multiple meanings, 1.e. the embodiment of Hyang Widhi, the sanctification, to nyomia (calming) the bhutakala,the meaning of ethics.,and balancing the cosmic vibration. The embodiment of Hyang Widhi is shown by banten (banten pinaka raganta),banten is a symbolzing ourselves and the universe. The meaning of sanctification is manifested in the Caru Rsigana to clean up the atmosphere and its contents, nurturing (nyupat) the bhutakala and all creatures which are considered as lower than human beings such as demons, fairy, jin, animals and the athers. The nyomia bhutakala means of change the properties of the bhutakala from the bhutakala from the ferociousto be gentle, so that they are beneficial to human life. The ethical meaning can be drawn as such : the human beings as social animals are necessary to build an harmonious relation with others on the basis of mutual respect. A person must not do things without control,but adjusting their self to the environment. The meaning of the balance is the effort and struggle in keeping ang maintaining that macrocosm and microcosm remains balanced, alined and in harmony.
